I am a professor at a primarily undergraduate institution. My spouse is a research professor and works two hours' drive away. This blog is primarily about life at a PUI, but also about our family trying to make the most of an uncomfortable lifestyle.

in-school suspension
Apparently one of the students referred to in yesterday's post has received an in-school suspension. The letter said that Stu may be on campus only to go to classes, but may not participate in any campus life... i.e. no sports, no rec center, no swimming pool, no coffee shop, no choir, nothing but going to class. Interesting solution.

I always thought the honor code at our school was kind of overkill, but clearly it was invented to deal with Stu. Your school is doing itself a disservice--if word gets out amongst the student body that academic dishonesty is not taken seriously, the problem will only get worse.
ReplyDeleteBizarre. Sounds extremely frustrating, and also likely that this kid will fail out eventually in any case. Sometimes you have to do them a favor and kick them in the ass.
