This morning I got dressed and put a scarf on. I thought, how should I tie this scarf? My MO is to tie a scarf like I learned in the 80's, but today I remembered that many of the students are wearing scarves and they tie them in a circle with the ends hanging down symmetrically in the front. So that's how I did it.
Who knows how many little behaviors of mine are influenced by being around 18-24 year olds all day. Luckily I haven't, like, picked up the "like" interjection. Otherwise I hope the students' influence serves to keep me "young".
I am a professor at a primarily undergraduate institution. My spouse is a research professor and works two hours' drive away. This blog is primarily about life at a PUI, but also about our family trying to make the most of an uncomfortable lifestyle.

don't know about you, but I'm totally banking on it. Nothing to make you feel haggard like spending your life with 18-22 y.o.s I'm given now to pondering what it will be like as I age. Already I've transitioned from hip role model to cool mom
ReplyDeleteI think it's a good idea to take a page out of your students' fashion book.
ReplyDeleteI am convinced that the majority of female profs stall their fashion sense as post-docs. Whatever was in style when they were post-docs is what they stick with forever.
